About the new facility
Pronatec created a new type of cocoa factory in Beringen, Schaffhausen.
A purely organic production plant – and the first in Switzerland to produce all three semi-finished products: cocoa liquor, cocoa butter and cocoa powder.
15,000 tons of organic cocoa beans are processed annually. Thanks to small production lot sizes, production will be very flexible and will be able to produce specialties such as single origin cocoa liquor, low fat cocoa powder and multi-certified semi-finished products (e.g. EU Bio, Bio Suisse, Naturland, Fairtrade, Fair for Life, etc.).
The semi-finished products are an important basis for numerous foodstuffs, including chocolate, beverages and various confectionery and baked goods. Cocoa butter is also widely used in many natural, high-quality cosmetic products.
The new site in Beringen will gradually create around 40 new jobs.
The official opening of the plant will take place on September 16, 2022.
Production has already been running since May 2022.
Work by Bühler + Scherler AG
Bühler + Scherler AG was involved in the project for about 20 months.
We were responsible for the electrical engineering and, together with the electricians on site, coordinated the procurement of materials and the installation of the complete process cabling.
The installation from August 2021 to January 2022 presented a scheduling challenge.
But thanks to the good cooperation of all parties involved, the plant was completed on schedule.
Nice to know – in the whole plant about 60km of cable were laid and over 2.5km of duct were installed.
